Thrustmaster Announces TX Servo Base & Alcantara Ferrari 599XX Rim

Like Turn 10, Thrustmaster decided to use Gamescom in Cologne, Germany as a podium to show off it’s latest and greatest.  What did they share?  Well, can I interest you in a the TX Racing Wheel in base form only and an Alcantara version of their Ferrari GT rim?

Let’s start with the base.  Fans – and us – have asked for the very capable TX wheel (T300 RS for the PlayStation) to be freed from the so-so pedals it comes with and be released as a stand-alone.  Thrustmaster has kindly complied and have announced the TX Servo Base for the Xbox One and PC.  For $259.99 you’ll be able to purchase the brushless motor, dual belt system, and pair it with a plethra of add-on rims and pedals (even pedals that aren’t from Thrustmaster).  The TX Servo Base goes on sale later this month.

Ecosystem

Speaking of add-on rims, Thrustmaster has a new one and I really, really, want to get my hands (and maybe face) on it.  That’s because the 599XX EVO 30 Wheel Add-On Alcantara® Edition is covered in that sweet, sweet, fabric known as Alcantara (as the name implies…).  I’ve heard it’s made of angel wings.

The 8:10 scale version of the Ferrari 599XX EVO rim is 11.8″ (30 cm), making it a little bigger than the stock TX and T300 rims and the TM Leather 28 GT Wheel and Ferrari 458 Challenge Edition add-on rims.  The 599XX EVO 30 Wheel Add-On Alcantara® Edition will go on sale in Q4 2015 for $179.99.

So lets game this out.  You can pair the TX base and 599XX rim with the a set of T3PA pedals and have a pretty potent setup for $540.  If that’s a bit much then you can pick up one of the cheaper add-on rims, which begin at $99.  Not too shabby.

The standard TX 458 Itália can easily be found for $299. I think it worth.
The standard pedals and f458 wheel are not so good, indeed. They look cheap, but the difference is only 40 bucks. So they are much cheaper than them look. I definitely would not let they pass for $40.
It’s always good have more wheels.

Btw, I can’t wait for this Alcantara 599xx wheel.

  2. By going to separate components, they have cleverly just got us all to get excited about buying a wheel base for not that much less than a TX wheel and pedal set. In the long run this setup would cost much more than a TX or T300 set. Still, that new wheel looks awesome

  3. I was talking to a guy that said his T500 from the original shifters to the shifters on his GTE wheel measures 4 inches. Anyone else give me a measure between the shifters? I am considering adding a TM wheel to my T500, but I would like to keep the stock shifters in place.
