Presenting our first in depth look at rFactor 2. It’s definitely been a long time coming. Darin & Jason sit down with this title from Image Space Incorporated (ISI) and discuss Physics, Force Feedback, Graphics, Sounds, Cars, Tracks and other more.

They tried just about every car and track that ISI has released for rFactor 2 to give it a fair shake in what’s still work in progress. This is not a review, it’s meant to offer feedback to ISI, in regards to features and changes and to discuss the things we currently like and don’t like about the title.

We hope you enjoy the show !

  1. Very balanced review. Maybe a bit harsh in places, but you guys pretty much described the good and not so good of this title. It has come along in leaps and bounds already this year and has the best feature set overall, I think. As for laser scanning, well I don’t think it’s essential to be able to enjoy a track, but you’re right in that this is the way the industry is going. That said, there’s plenty of for ISI to introduce this in the years to come.

I also endorse your views on the absence of modding. Remember also that IP holders have become far more involved in what is and isn’t allowable in modding, so it isn’t the free for all it once was.

The future for this franchise ought to be paid for add-ons, in much the same way as happens for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

  2. Thanks for the review guys. After trying the latest build, I have to agree with your assessment of the stock physics. Almost undriveable with default setups, and moreso than prior builds. I haven’t messed with setups or FFB to see if it made any difference, but I feel like the physics and feel have taken a number of steps backwards since previous builds. I guess there’s still a lot more work to do so too early to come to a conclusion, and I am still looking forward to the finished product, but likely I will be spending much more time on iRacing in the meantime.
