Due to the strong reception from when we did our first update on the modding community in Assetto Corsa, we’ve decided to do weekly updates! With everything that’s going on in the community, I’m sure there will be enough to report on for time to come. To avoid making this post go on and on, I’ll highlight my top 3 cars and top 3 tracks for that week, and will also report on mod releases/updates since the previous week.
CARS
First off, we’re going to take a look at an interesting mod. Have you ever wished the Le Mans Series Prototypes were limited only by imagination? Well, you’re in luck! Nunca15 is developing the No Limits Prototype Series, which features some of the craziest designs I’ve seen planned for a racing title (well, maybe since the Stinker Cup). Featuring fictional models based on 11 makes, this mod will definitely be an interesting one to keep in your sights!
Next up, we have the 1999 Nissan Primera BTCC car, developed by Patrik Marek (You may not have heard the name, but you likely know some of his professional work). This car was first announced in November of last year, and has slowly but surely been making this into one of the most visually impressive cars for the sim. I personally have a soft spot for this, since my current car is an Infiniti G20 (American version of Nissan Primera), so I’m looking forward to driving a race version of it. However, it will likely be a little while before the car’s released, since Patrik feels it shouldn’t be released until it’s in a relatively complete state. Templates may be released in the near future.

Rounding up my top 3 is the Scion FR-S (Toyota GT-86), which is being made for Assetto Corsa by Luca. This return to form for Toyota sports performance will make for some great driving on AC, and it definitely looks good, from looking at the video. Physics have already progressed and are in an advanced state, so a release could just be a matter of time. (Note that there already is a Scion floating around online, but it is an illegal rip from Forza Motorsport 4.Please wait for the quality content to be released, and support the developers who put a lot of effort into making these amazing models)
TRACKS
To begin, we have a fictional hillclimb/drift designed by Benjamin Joel. Benjamin’s Path, a route inspired by the Transfagarasan highway, was initially started as a means for Benjamin to learn to create scratch built tracks. After realizing how fun the course ended up being, he decided to take it on, planning on completing it. It definitely looks great, and I can’t wait to drive on it!
Secondly, we have a scratch-built version of Hockenheimring being made by vettel12. The Grand Prix and two short layouts are currently in progress, with the National configuration to follow. This circuit is in the early stages of development, but is looking solid so far! After watching the German Grand Prix, I’m looking forward to driving on this circuit.
Last, but definitely not least, we have something rather simple, but oh so fun! Rigel has designed a simple 150 meter skidpad, which is the only circuit on this list to be available to test yourself. Ten pit locations are included, so you can goof off with your friends online! Note that it is just at a 0.2 stage, and more features are planned to be added (including the possibility of a Nardo Ring style oval surrounding the skidpad).
RELEASED/UPDATED MODS
One of the most notable releases in the past week is the Reliant Robin Mk 1. You can channel your inner Jeremy Clarkson, however, this car won’t flip yet, due to issues with the collision model. This car still just oozes fun, and hopefully later versions will be more “flip-happy”.
Formula Corsa Modding has also been busy, releasing version 0.9.4 for their 2014 GP2 mod. This adds fixes for the Assetto Corsa 0.21 update, and also various updates. A 2nd LOD model has been included, to give performance increases.
the_meco has released version 0.2.5 of his Shelby Cobra. In addition to AC’s 0.21 fixes, suspension and aero fixes have also been implemented. Fuel consumption has also been added, and set to realistic levels.
Which Assetto Corsa car or track are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments!
