Rainbow Road Released for Assetto Corsa

It’s amazing what you can find on the Sim Racing Reddit page! The most reviled track in maybe all of racing video games has been brought to life in Assetto Corsa! Yep, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. N64AC has released Rainbow Road, a hallmark in the Mario Kart series, for Kunos’ sim.

There are many variants of Rainbow Road (one for each release of Mario Kart), but this specific one is based off of Mario Kart 64’s version. The track looks to be surprisingly well done, especially considering this is a scratch built version. The circuit has also been doubled in length to 4 kilometers, compared to the original Rainbow Road. I bet this track would be a hoot with the Go-Kart Mod that is currently being worked on. Just imagine running the Rainbow Road online (and yes, you can fly off the track!)

Are you going to give the Rainbow Road a go? What are your thoughts?

(To use this mod:, put this folder in the Assetto Corsa “tracks” folder)

Known Issues

  • Some cars don’t take kindly to the large jump and break their suspension, even with the damage model off.
  • The review mirror render distance is too short, so the star background isn’t visible
  • The windshield reflects sunlight, even with no sunlight on the track

Things for Future Releases

  • Pit lane speed limiter
  • Rainbow Road theme song
  • Mini-map

  1. No thanks. But still the game keeps trying new things, or old things again…. GT1 had a set of codes you could put into your Game Shark attachment and you could do some tracks like this. LOL It was fun, once.
