Kunos Simulazioni has announced a new license for Assetto Corsa, bringing Chevrolet Corvettes to the in-development racing title. Along with this announcement, two cars have been announced, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, as well as the C7.R race car.
The C7 marks the seventh generation of one of America’s most iconic cars. It is the first generation to feature the Stingray name since the third generation Vette from the 70s. Powered by a 6.2L V8 pumping out around 460 horsepower, it’s bound to provide hours of tire shredding fun.
The C7.R is the successor to the C6.R GT race car, and I personally think it looks awesome. Its first race was the 24 hour endurance race at Daytona, where mechanical gremlins kept the two cars from solid finishes. With many more races in the car’s future, we will likely see some exciting races from the Vettes!
As a thank you to the American response to Assetto Corsa (despite being predominately filled with European content, a large portion of sales have come from the US), the Corvette C7 Stingray road car will be released as a free DLC post-release. The C7.R will be released as part of the Dream Pack this September, along with nine other cars and the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
If you haven’t checked out Assetto Corsa yet, you can still get in on the Early Access program on Steam, and get the game for 20% off of the final price.
What do you guys think of some American muscle coming to Assetto Corsa? What is your favorite Corvette? Let us know in the comments.

This bodes well for Forza 5 then. I was beginning to think Polyphony/Sony maybe paid for rights to the C7 Vette. I was at a loss why it hasn’t been released yet in Forza 5 but now I have renewed hope!
When i win the lottery this is the car im importing from the US…Hopefully this weekend. 🙂
