Here it is. The first official console trailer for Assetto Corsa. In 54 seconds of footage we learn three things. First, the Ferrari FXX-K is the cover girl, which is smart considering Assetto Corsa is one of the chosen few with the coveted Ferrari license. Plus it’s name pretty much has the word FU** in it. That’s fun.
Second, the console versions – PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – arrive April 22nd. Not only is that #soon but it makes for a busy console release month with DiRT Rally coming to the TV box sets on April 5th.
Third, if you pre-order the title, you’ll get the Performance Pack which is made up of the Ferrari 488 GTB, Audi R8 V10 Plus and Corvette Stingray. The Ferrari 488 GTB is a new car to the series, one of which we’ve never seen before. We knew the Corvette was coming to the PC version as a free car. The Audi R8 V10 was released as a bonus car on the PC last Fall.

So, that means there is one car that is already out being repackaged as DLC. This was a big fear of many people when the console version was announced.
While it wasn’t stated in the trailer, Kunos included that over 90 cars will be in the console version. Is that 90 cars base or 90 cars once DLC is added? No idea at this point. What I do expect is for a number of cars that were included in PC DLC to be part of the base title as Kunos tries to boost their car count for the console. But apparently, there will be some already released cars utilized for DLC.
For the record, I don’t think a little bit of this activity is bad. But I hope that this doesn’t happen with the vast majority of past DLC cars (free or not). I would like to see Kunos start with a clean sheet and have new DLC in the future across all the platforms and not bother mixing and matching past content. I think that would keep both PC and console owners happy.
Or they could just re-package it all as DLC because straight cash homie.

console version gets all the dlc put together. pc version with all the dlc is around the same price so its not much of an issue, people need to understand that as time goes by the prices go down. Aris also said the pc guys will get the cars either as free or paid dlc.
It will be interesting to see if they also carry over their VR support to the PSVR. I hope this title gets a deserved place among Forza and Gan Tourismo as premium console simulation. I am curious how the UI will be. The current customizable in-race UI will not translate so well to the console.
Any info about multi screen support? By now there’s no next gen console “sim” with that feature. I’m not the hardcore enthusiast and enjoy GT6 in triple screens / triple PS3s and even getting additional used PS4s still is cheaper than a hardcore sim racing PC for triple screens. I’ve been very disappointed with Project Cars on PS4…didn’t close any of the gap between console and PC sims feature wise like I hoped for…just looks and sounds a lot nicer than GT6. Hope Assetto Corsa will be different in that respect.
No word on triples. I’d be shocked / impressed if they were supported.
But why? GT5, GT6 and Forza have been doing it for years. Where’s the evolution? Am I the only one who thinks it shouldn’t be all about higher resolution, fps, graphics and sound? The new consoles could technically even do stuff like dashboards on your tablet (PS4 second screen I guess it’s called) like on PCs. On the other hand Project Cars doesn’t even have decent triple screen support on PC either…
Well, idk if I would say Forza. They use to do it but FM6 doesn’t have it, which leads me to believe it’s not worth pursuing. That leaves only GT to currently have it. I’d love to see it but like you said with PCARS, it doesn’t seem on the radar for most developers. If it isn’t an available at launch, hopefully they add it down the line.
If they add a half-way reasonable career mode I may buy it again (I already own it on an ageing laptop) but if it’s the same as the PC version I fear AC on console will be a failure – who’s willing to pay upwards of £50 for solo hot lapping?
If they can fix the AI and basic career mode they could be onto a winner as the handling and general car feel is superb.
