Run for the hills…and don’t forget your favorite car.  Yes, Assetto Corsa’s much anticipated ‘Dream Pack’ is now available for download.  The Dream Pack features the immense Nürburgring-Nordschleife track and ten pretty awesome cars that are more than willing to take a spin at the laser scanned Green Hell.

Now that that’s out of the way (you guys know all about it by this point), lets talk about some key updates that arrived today in V1.1 of the title.  A number of sound tweaks have been made, which is good since its currently a weakness.  AI has been approved once more but based off the conga line in the video below…I’m not yet sold.  Fuel consumption has been adjusted for most cars, mirror FOV has been updated (yay!) and 4WD physics have been added (double yay!).  On the track front, multiple configurations per circuit is now supported and so is A to B racing (rally time!).  Beyond that a whole bunch of small additions/bug fixes.

So there we are.  A pretty big day for Assetto Corsa.  The addition of the Nordschleife is huge and – I would argue – so are the new cars because they’re all pretty kick ass.  V1.1 sounds good on paper but we will have to see how it is over time.

What do you think about all of the above?  Meeting, exceeding, falling short of expectations?  Do tell.

  1. Being a triple screen user I found the addition of a triple screen app in the apps on right side that allows you to “move the mirrors” by adjusting the screens or “warping them” useful in triple render. Secondly the screen now displays players lap times as well as other players. Third is the change in the way penalties are applied during a race and how it is shown on screen, but the lack of a timer is a downer. I did a big shortcut to see what it would do and it was about 30 seconds but not knowing was disappointing. So that is good and bad. Number 4 is really a complaint, they need to improve/simplify the way you set up and run a room. If you want to change tracks and or cars it is still a pain. It is still beyond my understanding. Fortunately I have a friend that runs the server and he taught me how to use Team Speak. I guess fifth would be the way the keyboards are laid out and the lack of a way to really use button boxes or even set them up. It shows them so it must be in the works… The game is improving, but still a long ways to go.

      1. http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/categories/assetto-corsa.1/
here you can find 2 downloads that have files to repair many modcars ,so it works with 1.1 update ,,just unrar and drop in assettocorsa/content/cars map
        and DONE !!!!
the problem is in the carmaps Aero.ini file ,and mods that use fmod soundplaceholders
        so manually you could
remove those files and edit Aero.ini delete all on it ,exept first line
and change ,so it only says version 2 ,then overwrite old ini file

    1. Speaking of triple screens: ever since I switched to triples a month or so ago, I find the fov in AC to be out of whack. The view through the windshield looks greatly magnified even when I have the seat position all the way back. Objects in front of me appear much closer than they really are and as a result the sense of speed is greatly diminished, which, in turn, makes driving more difficult.

Are any of you triple screen users experiencing this or am I missing a setting somewhere? It seems if you’re running triple screens the FOV app is disabled. When I change the FOV nothing happens.

      1. I have the same issue. I haven’t played around with it in a bit but when I drove the new cars yesterday, I was maxing out the amount of rear travel on nearly all of them. I don’t remember the 458, Lotus 49 and RUF (one’s I’ve driven recently) being so bad. I like to run pretty close (have my telemetry on my phone so don’t need to see the dash) but I do have the same “on top” of everything feel you’re explaining.

Still working on my G27 not shaking like crazy at higher speeds too…. Wish the default settings fixed this. Going through pages and pages of forums posts and jumping in and out of practice tweaking settings is annoying. Only game I have an issue with.

        1. I have rF2, GSCE, R3E and iRacing and none of them have this “magnified” view and diminished sense of speed. Really annoying to the point of not wanting to race with this sim anymore.

Sorry I can’t help with your G27 issues, I had one but bought the TX wheel a few months back.

      2. No I have not seen any magnification. You should try it on iRacing. There it feels like you are drunk when you move forward out of the cockpit. There it feels slowed, yet it is harder to figure your speed. but try the triples app on the right side in AC. Maybe it will fix it. But it does make a difference if you are in triple render or single render. Single render let you move the seat back past the trunk.

        1. Got it. I played with the Triple Screen app and that did the trick. I can’t believe I forgot about that app. Now it feels really good. Have a good sense of speed without losing any peripheral vision. It’s a night and day difference.
