In case you haven’t heard, Turn 10 Studios decided to change things up with the forthcoming release of Forza Motorsport 6 and offer it in demo form two weeks before its official launch on September 15th. Well, the demo hit Xbox Live today and we decided to take it for a spin in this week’s Test Drive.

Our weapon of choice was the 2015 VW Golf R, which had nothing to do with me owning a ’13 GTI, nope, not at all…and by not at all I mean that’s why I picked it… The Career Mode in the demo pigeonholes you into a three race arc, with round one being at Lime Rock, round two at the annoyingly flat and technical Yas Marina Circuit and round three at a very wet Sebring. Since Yas Marina is annoying and Sebring required us playing the demo over – no save points, much to our chagrin – Lime Rock ended up being the belle of the ball. Plus it’s a hoot for not-quit-powerful-enough production cars.
This week’s winner was determined by who finished higher in a grid of 24 AI in “unbeatable” mode (we both won races in Pro mode). You’ll have to watch to see who wins but I can assure you, the AI is still unbeatable.
In related Inside Sim Racing + Forza Motorsport 6 news, we have a copy of the full game and will be releasing new content this Friday (Sept 4th) when the embargo is lifted. This content will include a two hour live stream showing off the Career Mode and potentially some multiplayer action. We will also be releasing Test Drives showing off some car and track combos not in the demo. We’ll let you know what time we go live beforehand so you can tune in and interact with us in chat.
P.S.: In addition to the demo, Turn 10 released the official launch trailer, which is as pretty as you would expect it to be (but seriously, Forza 6 is very pretty in person).

what wheel settings did you guys run? did you leave the wheel at 540 or change to 900. Ive got the same setup as you and ran 900 DOR, FF80, VIB 90 & all deadzones set to 0 or 100. Pretty good feel I think but your own car sound is way to quiet. there needs to be a setting to increase your own car volume or decrease the other sounds. the AI cars were louder than your own!! Looking forward to the full game though
We turned deadzones to 0 and everything else to 100. Kept wheel at 540 since it felt fine, haven’t played with 900 yet. And yes, the in car sounds are way to low.
Great video, shame about the off in race 2 :o). Just wondered how do the physics compare over Forza 5 – are we nearer Sim or Simcade? Kind regards.
Just a shame that the games are not available for pc. I just think in triple screen it would look and play great. Oh well competition pushes the competitors.
