After the success of last year’s second season of the Forza Racing Championship, Turn 10 has released a new content update for Forza Motorsport 6, which brings various improvements for its eSports capabilities, in preparation for the new ForzaRC season. More information on the coming seasons is set to be revealed in April.
Private lobbies and pre-race info
Manual grid ordering in online private lobbies is now possible. The host, being the player who created the lobby, can put any player on any position, allowing for a completely individual starting order. This option can be found in the “Advanced Rules” section, after choosing “Game Options”.
The customised grid can be previewed by the players in the lobby too. Once the host has enabled the feature, it can be found in the afore mentioned settings path and before a race, players will be able to either see a shot of every car, with make, model and gamertag of the driver added, or a shot of the car the host choses manually. This does not guarantee that all cars will be shown though.
Spectating
A new “Info Panels” option has now been added for spectators of multiplayer races as well. This option allows spectators to either add a “Race Overview” or a “Player Overview” to their screen, or both at once.
The “Race Overview” gives you exactly that, an overview of the race. This includes a mini-map displaying the players’ positions and a leaderboard.
The “Player Overview” screen is very self-explanatory too. Rich information on the selected player is provided, including of course the name and car, telemetry and even brake and throttle pressures. Race relevant information, like the number of pit stops and the fastest lap, is included too.
The update is available now and it is great to see that Forza Motorsport 6 is still being supported, although its successor has probably been in the works for quite some time now already.
