Well guys, April Fools’ day has come and gone and iRacing has dispelled the rumors of this being an elaborate April Fools’ day hoax! By giving us a peek at their first steps towards one of the cars that will thunder around dirt tracks in their upcoming Dirt installment, all the conjecture leading up to the release by iRacing of this laser scan image has now been quashed!

Initially, iRacing led us to believe that the teaser car, the well known Dirt Late Model car, may well be the only vehicle suited to dirt racing to make it into their title. With the release of the scan you see in the image, iRacing are definitely moving forward with their Dirt plans and giving us a glimpse of the Chip Ganassi Racing Ford Fiesta Rallycross car. The inclusion of this particular car could well mean that RallyCross will be one of the disciplines that will be included when Dirt is released.

iRacing also released a very short video on Facebook of a work in progress project car, actually a RUF,  getting some air on what looks to be a rallycross circuit.

Included in their latest news update, iRacing also confirmed they have licensed the Eldora Speedway dirt oval. This half-mile clay oval is located near New Weston, Ohio and is seen as the home of some of the biggest dirt oval races in the entire world! Constructed in 1954, the dirt oval started life as a quarter-mile oval, 4 years later it was converted to the present half-mile format. Eudora Speedway plays host to some of the most renowned  races as  “The Dirt Late Model Dream”, “The Kings Royal”, “Eldora at Eldora Speedway”, “Chevrolet American Revolution Weekend” and “The World 100.”

Keep an eye out here for more news on iRacing’s Dirt as it is released.
