iRacing: Brake Failure In GT3 Race

Caffeinesixx has uploaded a friendly reminder that, no matter what quality of hardware you may be running with, there is always a legitimate chance of a failure. What was intended to be an exciting iRacing top-split GT3 series race was tragically cut short by a failure in a hydraulic pedal system. The failure happens around the 3:15 mark.

It’s amazing how quickly the brake fails and how little time there actually is to react to the situation. This also brings forth the question: with these advances in pedal technology, could there be more possibility of failures due to more mechanical systems being at work? Feel free to discuss your thoughts, or your own experiences with hardware failures, in the comments below.

  1. The same thing can happen in real racing except for there are much more parts that can brake apart. And with a bigger effect on man and material. Thats why every racecar gets big allround check just before every session. But in Simracing we don’t do that because it usually doesn’t happen and it doesn’t have any bigger effect. Nice to have a video of such a rare moment.
