Back in rFactor’s heyday, CART Factor – featuring the cars of the 1998 CART season – was one of its biggest stars. Of course, featuring some of the most badass open wheel cars ever made helps. Now its been announced that the amazing cars from rFactor will be ported and updated to rFactor 2!
With the permission of CART Factor creator Racing Line Developments, the mod will be brought up to rFactor 2 standards by pay2021 and Dann Murillo of racinnexus.co. It will feature the four chassis manufacturers; Reynard 98I, Swift 009c, Penske PC27 and Lola T98/00 and hopefully the four engine and two tyre brands that the rFactor version had. The latter two have not been confirmed yet.
You can follow along on the project’s progress here at the team’s “To-Do List,” which can be viewed and commented on by anyone. If you are a modder with free time on your hands, take a look at the list and see if you can be of any help, the team is looking for talent.

Horrible graphics as usual for rF2.
Yup. Too bad it’s not for Assetto Corsa.
@DjFIL Well we had planned to port the mod to AC as well but with the complete lack of muliplayer functionality and server admin controls AC didn’t seem worth it unless we want to wait until 2016 (or later) for league play. Thus, a CART Factor port to RF2 seemed only logical for the RF1 mod. 🙂
it looks great…idk what ppls issue is. looking forward to it.
This will be a great addition for rF2. Looking forward to it. This was one of my favorite mods for rF1.
I loved CART back on PS1. It was not as good as F! Championship 98, but it was a lot easier to win the races.
Now, if they get the tracks as well, then this could be awesome!
