We’ve known Monza was coming to iRacing in the Season 2 build – which is just two weeks away – for awhile now but we had yet to actually see it, until now. Monza can now be seen, and boy did iRacing ever pull a rabbit out of the hat on this one. Yes, the Formula 1 track at Autodromo Nazionale Monza looks lovely with its lush vegetation and neck snapping braking zones but…who cares about that…it comes with old OVAL!

Yes the classic – what had to be terrifying – high banks of Monza were not only scanned by the iRacing team but also recreated to be raced on. Awesome. In fact, Monza will arrive to the title in 8 different configurations, paying homage to the tracks evolution since it opened in 1922. I think the star of the show will be the 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) combined circuit used in the 1920’s (then banned), mid-50’s and early 60’s (and banned again after the ’61 race).
Get your big boy pants ready, cause Monza and all its configurations will be here in only a couple of weeks!
Note:
iRacing is deploying a new update tomorrow (2/26) solely to alleviate server issues that hampered its Daytona 500 events ran last weekend. Many people were not able to join the Saturday noon Est. race which eventually lead to iRacing cancelling the entire event (just like the 2014 Indy 500). Hopefully the quick update means iRacing have discovered the issue and remedied it (cause these server issues during big events is getting old).

Will certainly be a nice addition to the iRacing list of historic circuits. I’m also looking forward to Imola and, of course, Nordshliefe.
