Fanatec Wheels Support Project CARS on PC, PS4 and Xbox One

Big announcement today for Fanatec wheel owners and/or Project CARS customers.  Fanatec wheels will now be supported for not only the PC version of Project CARS but the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One versions as well.  Fanatec capatability across the three platforms give Project CARS users much more robust wheel support compared to the last wheel compatibility announcement.  On the flipside, it gives Fanatec fans what they’ve been clamoring for, Xbox One support.  Well, kinda…

The catch of the announcement is that only the Clubsport Wheel Base V1 and V2 are compatible with the Xbox One.  They will become compatible later through a firmware update.  Unfortunately, the previous gen wheels are physically and legally (thanks Microsoft) not compatible with the Xbox One.  And of course, Project CARS is only one of many titles on the Xbox One, but it is a start.

And speaking of which, Fanatec does appear to have plans brewing to release a more affordable wheel for the Xbox One.  I’m sure this will be greatly appreciated by those who only plan to race on the Xbox One and aren’t keen to spend at least $750 (once you get the Clubsport base and a wheel).

Sony and the PlayStation 4 is a much easier egg to crack, allowing compatibility with all Fanatec wheels.

The updated compatibility list can be seen below.  Its an interesting list.  The PC list has been populated for a while and gives players plenty of options.  The PlayStation 4 is now filled in pretty nicely, except for the lack of Logitech support thanks to Logitech pulling the plug on its game peripherals business unit.  The Xbox One/Fanatec news is noteworthy but still leaves the console with not a whole lot of choices, especially when it comes to pedals.

As always, these things are a moving target.  Its good to see further compatibility coming to Project CARS.  Its also good to hear Fanatec making a push for the Xbox One.  Hopefully we’ll see even more options – especially pedals – pop up for the Xbox One in the future.

    1. Come on Tim.. “Monopoly”.. How about good business model that follows the rules set by the console manufacturer. More like you snooze you lose and the company with the big F did exactly that.

      1. Hey, I do have a pair of ideas on why they may have delayed so much on Project Cars. Maybe they were waiting for Fanatec to get signed on. Other part, Is I watched a multiplayer race on PC on pc with in game audio chat. First time I have seen that and I have watched a lot of “Yorkie065” videos. And I think you meant the big “L” Lost on this “non-monopoly” single manufacturer deal, until now… LOL

        1. You are absolutely… wrong. Anyone who has been following Project CARS evolution for the recent months and has been playing the lastest builds knows that the game is not ready, there are quite a few bugs and niggles that require fixing still.
In the end it’s all about money, Thrustmaster sells more than Fanatec so it got prioritized over it, pure and simple. It was always just a matter of time before Fanatec got licensed for the next-gen.

          1. That is funny, the two guys I know that are testing it say it is ready. You do know that they can update games online right? Welcome to the 21st Century genius.

          2. Well I’ve been playing it almost daily for the last weeks and at the time it was delayed it was not ready to be released and according to the press release the SlightlyMad people agreeded with me. Sure games can be updated post release, but SMS isn’t EA or Ubisoft, it won’t be release until it’s solid through and through.

“Despite our long heritage and pedigree in making
critically-acclaimed racing games, Project CARS is by far the grandest
and most intricately detailed of them all. Despite therefore the game
being 99.9% complete, the remaining 0.1% attending to small issues and
bugs has been tricky to anticipate. We’re absolutely dedicated to
delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans
can be assured that’s what they’ll receive”

And lastly, don’t insult me and my opinions, you are only belittling your own which I’m sure you know after all you’re the smart one.

          3. Then don’t insult me. You started it. Quoting other people does not prove anything except that you can copy and paste.

          4. Btw, iRacing puts out cars and tracks and then has to update all the time. So if the best simulator on the net can make updates, so can Project Cars. And NOTHING is ever 100%. That is impossible especially online. I am anticipating a good game, someday, especially since I have preordered.

      2. Daren Gangi ive pisted a PCars FFB tuning PDF on the Inside Sim Racing Forum… Its Realy GOOD Try it!!! PCars Problem is they didnt propperly explain How to Tweek the FFB!!! The Biggest Problem was How they Described the Relative adjust Bleed… Yhey said it is a Time Value for Bleeding Torque Back in…This is False!!! It is the amount of torque that will be bBled Back in to Change the wheel Weight to let you Feel Changes in the Road, Weight Transfer, Loss of Grip ETC.
PCars Feels just as Good as Assetto Corsa on with the right FFB Tweek!!! Try it. this tune works with all wheels. Check out the PDF i Posted. thnx
