Well that was quick. Earlier this week we pondered when Service Pack 3 (SP3) for EnduRacer’s Endurance Series rFactor mod would be released and that answer turned out to be Saturday. Yes, even before the drivers at this weekend’s 12 Hours of Sebring could turn a lap in anger, Service Pack 3 was out and allowing all of us sim racers to do the same.

Service Pack 3 not only features nine new cars (featuring 200+ skins!) across four different categories but other updates to EnuRacer’s previous work. These updates include a new menu design, new intro video (which is sick), new 3D helmet design, improved sounds and improved overall car physics. A lot of good stuff here. The entire list of updates can be seen at the bottom.
If you have rFactor still installed – or recently picked it up on Steam – you need this mod. Service Pack 3 can be downloaded here. If you are new to the mod then you’ll need to install the FULL version (SP2.1) first, then install SP3. Paint templates for the new cars will be released in the near future as well.
If you have moved on from rFactor and gone to rFactor 2, there’s good news. Now that SP3 is out, the EnuRacers will turn their attention to bringing the Endurance Series mod to rFactor 2. In fact, the team will first be bringing their Flat 6 mod (Porsche) to rFactor 2 first as a test run. Hopefully that goes smoothly and the Endurance Series can be moved over as well with little drama.

Finally broke down and bought the “Stock Car Extreme.” It is okay, but still an older game. Maybe once they put this on rFactor2 I might pick it up too. Nice to have different games with the “new” cars and tracks. I would like to try a demo of rFactor2. Heck I might buy it if I could try it.
Go here, download the demo 🙂

For my money, rF2 offers the best driving experience. Love the physics and FFB. Day/night and weather.
But it’s not quite as complete a game as AC or R3E or (I assume) Project Cars. That being said, IMHO, no sim library is complete without it.
And I love GSCE too. Arguably, the best bang for your sim racing buck.
