Image Space Incorporated (ISI) has released the first pictures of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP) coming to rFactor 2. Along with the pictures, ISI’s Tim Wheatley added the amusing comment of, “coming probably-not-as-soon-as-you-want-but-still-soon.” Sooo…next week?
Clearly, the car has a ways to go but it’s good to see it in ‘clay’ and already looking very racey. I have to admit that I struggle a bit with the Daytona Prototype vs. European P2 battle that currently wages in the Tudor Sports Car Championship (TUSC) prototype division here in the States. While I prefer the idea of the carbon monocoque P2 cars, the current crop of them are kind of goofy looking. On the other hand, the extremely ugly Daytona Prototype’s of a decade ago have morphed into something much more palatable and dare I say good looking. I think ISI has done a nice job capturing this. I also think that the look alone could make this a popular car.
While it may not be a P2 car, for better or worse, the 2015 Corvette DP certainly has performance. Carbon ceramic brakes, a huge diffuser and 5.5 liter V8 engine, the Corvette DP can go fast, stop fast and turn fast. All features that should make it popular as well.
With rFactor 2 currently featuring zero prototypes, I think the Corvette DP is a nice addition. Will be interesting to see how the development progresses. It’ll also be interesting to see if they are able to get it out before iRacing releases their version of the car. Of course, backlog – where’s the stock cars at? – may have a say in when it’s released.

Looks nice. Good to see ISI working on another car. Looking forward to it.
