One of the new racing disciplines to be added to rFactor 2 in the near future is stock car oval racing. With this new update, at least two oval circuits will be coming: Jacksonville (based on Daytona International Speedway) and Mountain Peak (Based on Charlotte Motor Speedway). Now, Image Space Incorporated has released two new previews for the circuits, showcasing how far along they are in development.

Mountain Peak is being developed by ISI’s in house track team, and has been in development for a while. The circuit was initially designed early in rFactor 2’s life, so it was made to late rF1 standards. The oval circuit was brought to modern rFactor 2 standards, and they also implemented the road course and go-kart circuit at the North Carolina based track. ISI has done a good job bringing this course to modern standards, and it looks like the track side animations bring an extra dimension of realism to the sim.

Next up, we have a preview of Jacksonville, which is being brought from the original rFactor sim to rF2 by a third party. Progress looks to be going smoothly on the circuit, as the previews show. We also are able to get our first preview of the sounds of the Stock Cars. All things considered, I feel the sounds for the cars are pretty solid, but some improvements could be made to them.
Hopefully we’ll see these new ovals released for rFactor 2 soon, along with the Stock Car content. The cars are still in development, and will look to incorporate the contact patch updates that will be coming to the sim in a future update. I think that, with rFactor 2’s RealRoad feature, it could make for some very interesting oval racing in the future.
Are you looking forward to seeing Stock Cars coming to rFactor 2? Let us know in the comments!

The American dream :PPP
I’m not a fan of stock cars (‘cept for the Brazilian V8’s in GSCE) but the road course might be good. I’ll be sure to give this a go when it’s ready.
Cant wait.
