In a rather unexpected move, Kunos Simulazioni has released a new trailer, showing off the next car to come to Assetto Corsa. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, the first car from the German marque to be featured in Assetto Corsa, will be released in the latest update, coming this Friday.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is seen as a modern revival of the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL, which was almost the German make’s swan song. The car is powered by a 6.3L V8 which generates 571 horsepower, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in the world. The colossal V8 is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch semi-auto gearbox. 0-60 times are around 3.2 seconds, and the car will keep going to a top speed of 204 mph. Monstrous 390mm and 360mm (15.35″ and 14.17″ respectively) brakes, fitted inside 19 inch wheels, will bring the 3,570 pound car to a screeching halt. Gullwing doors emanate the spirit of the classic 300SL, which had a legendary racing pedigree. The SLS also has a GT3 race car variant, which has been announced for Assetto Corsa to be coming as free DLC post 1.0 release.
This Friday, the next update for Assetto Corsa will be released, after a one month break since the 0.21 update. Some updates for the next release will include an updated tire model (with improved tire wear and graining), some improvements to the graphics engine. I know that Kunos will be changing the sound engine to FMOD, but since it is a very large project, I would not anticipate it coming in this week’s update.
Are you looking forward to driving the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG when it comes out this Friday? Which car from the German automaker would you like to see in Assetto Corsa? Let us know in the comments!

“The SLS also has a GT3 race car variant, but to my knowledge it is not confirmed for Assetto Corsa.” – http://www.assettocorsa.net/mercedes-benz-sls-gt3/ 🙂

This is awesome. Easily one of my favorite cars. Next up I’d like to see the DTM Mercedes.
I can’t wait to drive this car! I’d also like to see a CL 63 AMG or CL 65 AMG
