April 1st Announcements: GRID: Railroad & Flappy Cars

Have to say that I was quit surprised when two new title announcements slid across my theoretical desk this morning.

First up is GRID: Railroad, with CodeMasters jumping into the virtual sim train racing world. The sim (not game) is said to revolutionize point-to-point train racing with it’s truerail handling (NRM – new rail model anyone?). The sim features a Station Master mode which allows you to race your train across 1,337 miles of track and contend with your competitors switching points to survive. LivePoints allows you to change tracks and head off on new exciting adventures. The RailNet feature allows you to track your train and record any trains you’ve spotted. I love train spotting!

Other key features include demolition shunting mode, customizable wagons, dedicated in-train view and waiting room spectate mode. The sim will also allow you to use an Oyster Card to purchase future content. I don’t even know what an Oyster Card is but I want one!

Not to be outdone, Slightly Mad Studios also released a new sim today called Flappy Cars. Designed for hardcore sim racers, Flappy Cars allows you to use touch controls to control the flaps on a Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster. The longer you keep the beast on the road, the better!

Flappy Cars will be a free-to-play Xbox One exclusive with an optional $50 in-app purchase revealing the developer’s home telephone number so racers can leave harassing voicemails. Such transparency!

April Fools is such a great day to be a sim racer!
