Over the past two weeks, Kunos Simulazioni has announced two cars to be included in their Assetto Corsa racing simulator, the LaFerrari and McLaren P1. These two cars showcase the potential of hybrid drivetrains in modern supercars, and bring forth staggering numbers!
The LaFerrari features a 6.3L V12 engine, generating 789 bhp. The engine is added to by a KERS unit, that can allow a 161 boost of horsepower, bringing the total to 963 horsepower and a theoretical top speed of 230 miles per hour, making it the most powerful street-legal Ferrari to date.
The McLaren P1 is the successor to the famed McLaren F1, and is a technical marvel. The car features the same 3.8L V8 engine as the MP4-12C, tuned to 727 bhp, coupled with a 176 horsepower electric motor, bringing the grand total to a blistering 903 horsepower, and a limited top speed of 217.5 mph.
These cars are remarkably similar on paper, and will likely make for some intense competition!
No release date has been specified for the P1, but the LaFerrari will be released as free downloadable content after the game’s official release.
Kunos has also released a couple teaser videos of internal AI testing, using the Tautus Formula Abarth at Monza.
