Assetto Corsa V1.0 Out Now

Back in October, Kunos Simulazioni gave us early accessers a sneak peak at the “finished version” of Assetto Corsa with the 1.0.0 release candidate.  Now the sneak peak is over as the full-blown version 1.0 of Assetto Corsa is out now on Steam.

So it’s the same as the release candidate right?  Not exactly.  No, V1.0 is not a massive leap forward from the work in progress version (will get to that later) but it does contain some nice updates.  It comes with one new piece of content, the Alfa Romeo Giuletta Q.V. 2014 Launch Edition (say that five times fast).  It also contains some news worthy updates such as updated tyre models for all cars, improved and new post processing effects, overall balancing of sound levels, new sounds for the Lotus Type 49, Ferrari F40 and Ferrari 312T and minimum force feedback force implemented.  You can see the entire changelog at the bottom of this post.

Even though it’s a healthy update, there are some notable omissions from V1.0.  Offline pit stops and lack of flag rules are a couple of the larger absentees from the title.  Of course these days, very few games (all games, not just sim racing) are released 100% finished.  Instead, they are released a little earlier and updated heavily in the first year of their lives.  This is why I wrote “final version” at the top.  Yes, it’s technically the final version but there will be many updates to come.  Besides, that’s part of the fun of gaming these days.  A game is never truly final.  Look at iRacing.  It was released six years ago without pit stops (and 50% of the features it has now) and it seems to be doing quit well.

Assetto Corsa will be the same.  Sim titles are like wines, they get better with age (well, for about 7 years, then they’re replaced…but until that time).

  1. Damn, I just downloaded a bunch of those tracks and some cars. Probably have to delete everything and start over…

    1. I did have to verify integrity my copy in steam, but did not see any change… Getting frustrated with the game. Went online and I don’t have half the cars or tracks… Pain in the butt.

  2. Has anyone been getting “kicked” since the new build? I’ve been kicked out every since the new build and I’ve checked the integrity of my files and it seems I had a few that was corrupt but still kicking me out (?)
