German race car driver René Rast has helped unveil Fanatec products in the past, and now he has given us the opportunity to see a new rim in action. However, it is not a rim we have seen before, so that means we know that there is now an eighth Fanatec rim coming. We also get a sneak peek at the rear of the rim, which also feature paddle shifters unlike any other rim.

What makes this video a little more interesting is that he has mounted his cell phone onto the wheel. While the is mounted in a modified iPhone OtterBox case, it looks like the part connected to the rim could be a proprietary Fanatec product. Could this mean we could be getting a phone add-on for rims?
To anybody interested, the app he is using is HUD Dash for Project Cars, which is available for Android devices.
What do you think about Fanatec’s 8th rim?

If I was leaving work today to go home to this set up, I would be a much happier person 🙂
