Forza Alpinestars Pack

The cars included in this new pack span almost 40 years of automotive history and hail from Europe, the USA, Japan and Australia.

The oldest car in the pack is the Australian 1967 XR Ford Falcon GT. The Falcon was the first 289 small-blocked Windsor V8 powered car to win the then named, Bathurst 500, a race which we know today as the Bathurst 1000.

The Lotus tweaked 1979 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam was Chrysler Europe’s answer to the extremely popular VW Golf GTI of the time. With input from the famous British car tuner and manufacturer Lotus, the compact mid-engined rear wheel driven car actually won the 1981 WRC manufacturer’s title with Henri Toivonen at the wheel. It was actually the last two wheel drive car to win the WRC title.

Next up, the 1990 Mazda RX-7 Savanna, this Japanese sports car was only sold in Japan under the Savanna name. The car was cleverly marketed with an engine capacity of under 1.5 litres. The rotary engine made financial sense for Japanese consumers, with higher road tax charges for larger capacity engines, the smaller wankel engine offered sports car power levels at an affordable price.

In 1998 Nissan’s Silvia K’s or S14 Kouki model formed the basis for many drift enthusiasts the world over. The K’s was powered by a later version of the SR20DET engine and had variable valve timing, as well as a bigger turbo. The body styling was more rounded and larger than previous models of the car and included aerodynamic aids and ground effects. The original designers of the Silvia could have never known just what cult status this car would later achieve.

BMW’s M4 GTS is a lightweight powerful coupe that has the same twin-turbo, 3.0-liter, inline-six found in the regular M4, with an increased output of 493 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The 2o16 GTS, when compared with the standard model, has been pared down by some 200 pounds or 90 kilograms. To achieve a lower weight, BMW even ditched the back seat altogether. With a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the GTS can hit 60 mph, or 100 kmh in 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph, or 305 kmh!

The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR or American Club Racer model was introduced in 1999. Fitted with semi-slicks and a huge rear wing producing 2000 pounds, or 907 kilograms of downforce, the car is basically a track car built for the road. The ACR may be slower in a straight line than other Vipers out there but cornering speeds are much higher due to the immense downforce and sticky tyres this car is fitted with. The Viper is powered by an 8.4 litre V10 engine which pumps out 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque.

Finally, we have the 2017 Acura NSX. After a 10-year absence, the Acura NSX returned as the manufacturer’s supercar model. The original NSX was lightweight and had a naturally aspirated free-reviving power unit. The 2017 NSX features a twin-turbo engine, combined with a hybrid setup and dual-clutch transmission. All this comes from a non-VTEC 75-degree twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, producing 500 hp between 6,500 and its 7,500-rpm redline. The powertrain is assisted by three separate electric motors and produces 406-lb-ft of torque, available from 2,000 to 6,000 rpm.

The Alpinestars Car Pack is now available for download on the Xbox Marketplace. The DLC pack will cost you $6.99 US and is free to Forza Horizon players who already posses the previously released Car Pass.
