Under the category of “cool things that sim racing allows,” comes a video of James Hunt’s son, Freddie, giving it a go in rFactor 2’s 60’s era Formula 1 car. Not only is he driving a 60’s era Formula 1 car around rFactor’s 60’s Spa but he’s also doing it in Classic Race Simulator’s period appropriate chassis.
Freddie, who raced in the ADAC Formula Masters series in 2009 and is working on a comeback, holds a pretty tiddy line around the old course. The video also shows a few ownlookers, including 1996 Formula 1 champion Damon Hill.
Even though James Hunt made his name in the 70’s, you can’t help but wonder what it felt like for Freddie to jump into something that feels like the cars his father drove. This video is just another example of why you have to love sim racing.

Hard to see the actual video quality, but that set-up looks like it would be fun. I would like to see him race, if he wants to in the future, it would be a heavy crown to bear as the son of a World Champion.
