Chapter 7 of iRacing’s Basic Training video series has been released featuring pit strategy and car setup. As any veteran sim racer knows, both are critical and video creator Bryan Blackford does a nice job of walking through both topics. I particularly enjoyed the setup tips in the video, such as scouring the forums for stable setups, calculating the fuel you will need for the race beforehand in practice and making sure your tire temperatures and wear are even on all four tires. These might sound trivial to veteran racers but are pretty helpful tips for new members of the service.

In other iRacing news, thanks to a glitch in the members website today, member Jorn Jens snapped this screenshot below of the Toyota Gen-6 in the drop down menu for the Nascar iRacing Series.
The Toyota Camry has long been rumored to be showing up to the service, including iRacing’s Otto Szebeni talking to Darin about it back at iRace4Life a few weeks ago, but there has never been a firm release date due to contract delays. In response to the image, iRacing’s Steve Myers jumped on the forums and clarified the situation. Steve said the car is built and will be released in Season 2, IF the “finalized” contract is signed by then. The contract is suppose to be signed this week so fingers crossed.
And one more thing… Tony Gardner jumped in and added that iRacing scanned Kyle Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing car, meaning it will feature the cool carbon fiber GT style dash that the team runs.
