May 24th, iRacing releases Imola retrospective video trailer. This newest video trailer from the team at iRacing is overlaid with some interesting historical facts regarding one of the the best known road racing circuits in Italy, if not the world! It also features some cool in-game footage showing different classes of race cars in action.
Imola has been brought back to it’s former glory and has now consolidated its position on the international racing calendar by continuing to host the World Superbike Championships as well as top class sportscars with the Six Hours of Imola being run to Le Mans rules as part of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in 2011.
Additionally, a shortened three-hour race at the Italian circuit has formed the basis for a round of the European Le Mans Series. With a complete resurfacing having taken place in August 2011, the FIA awarded the circuit a Grade 1 status once again. Licensing for Formula One competition has been granted, although the return of the San Marino Grand Prix is unlikely, due to the current financial climate in Italy, the certification permits the venue to at least host F1 testing once again.
Imola for iRacing is scheduled to arrive somewhere in June of 2016. If you are a fan of this iconic circuit, mark it down in your calendar so you be one of the first to take your favourite open wheeler or closed cockpit car racing at Imola! As soon as an exact date is announced we will definitely keep you all updated.
