One of the eagerly awaited updates to iRacing is the implementation of driver swaps. This will likely be one of the most extensive updates to come to the sim, and is years in the making. The feature is planned to be coming to the season 4 build, which is set for release this October. The iRacing.com team has now released a trailer for the Team Racing feature, to give you an idea of how it will work.

If you missed it, over the past couple weeks, Darin and I got to take part in some Alpha races to test out the driver swap functionality. The first ever 24 hour race was also tested from yesterday to this morning, and Darin, John Sabol, and I were able to participate. I will say this though: running a race with driver swaps is a totally different beast than running solo! The dynamic of making sure you have an intact car to bring back to your teammates is an interesting feeling. It also adds another level of competition to the mix. Not only are you competing with other competitors, but you will find yourself competing with your teammates as well, striving to achieve the best time for the team.
