iRacing Announces Nurburgring 1000 Sponsorship – Possible Scan?

simracing_expo

iRacing has announced that they will be sponsoring the 5th round of the Blancpain Endurance Series, the Nurburgring 1000. This race will cover 1000km around the Nurburgring GP-Strecke Circuit next month. To go with the newly announced sponsorship, they have announced a new promotion!

New members looking to give iRacing a try can now sign up for 3 months free! The membership includes all the base content (7 cars and ten tracks), as well as unlimited online racing. This deal comes only once in a while, and if anyone’s looking forward to giving it a go, I’d recommend trying it out. If you’re able to time it right, you may even be able to have the trial overlap with the Black Friday special (generally half-price membership or two years for price of one).

In another related development that could likely make racing fans squeal with glee, a mobile scanning vehicle has been spotted entering the ring! While this is in no means a confirmation of the Nordschleife coming to iRacing, it does seem to be a major coincidence that a scanning vehicle is spotted the same time the partnership was announced.

What are your thoughts on Nurburgring possibly coming to iRacing? Let us know in the comments!

  1. By guest would be that it is Nurburgring scanning their own location. once scanned the data can be sold together with the license, and it can be sold/used by the car manufacturers to run proper simulations on their cars.

But like said, that is just a guess 😉

  2. According to what I found out about the 1000km of Nurburgring event, it is only held on the GP circuit, not the Nordschleife. I know I personally would be disappointed if they did not scan the 24hr layout.

Well since this car’s been spotted over a month in advance, there’s no reason they couldn’t scan both
