Ade Barwick, Commercial Director for Ginetta Cars, states:

Sim racing is a new and increasingly popular entry-point into this world of motorsport, and we take it seriously as a discipline in its own right, so we are very excited to announce this partnership, and look forward to seeing what the competitors can do.

Players looking to join up for the competition can register for the ‘Ginetta x Project CARS Esports Cup’, which will be held in the month of November 2016. The competition is not limited to any one platform and players from around the world can enter using their PC and console versions of Project CARS. The exclusively online only competition will take place over two weekends between the 18th of November and the 4th of December, 2016.

Qualifying for the competition for drivers across all platforms will be held from the 18th to the 21st of November. Registered drivers will have the opportunity to compete in time-trial-based qualifying formats and will have the use of the Ginetta G55 GT4 car at the Donington National Circuit. To ensure a level playing field, all car setups will be fixed.

At the conclusion of the qualifying rounds, the best fifteen qualifiers from each platform will progress to the finals weekend. The final will involve two rounds of live online competition. Firstly, the semi-finals will decide which eight drivers on the PC, XBOX One and Playstation 4 platforms will move on to the final round of the championship.

The finals will consist of a 30 minute race, including one mandatory pit-stop. The top eight drivers from each platform will then race each other for the Championship trophy and £5,000 in prize money. The championship finals are to be live-streamed and will feature live commentary.

Andy Tudor, Creative Director for Slightly Mad Studio, shares his thoughts:

This partnership demonstrates how closely Project CARS mirrors the real-world of motorsport, and the accuracy with which the cars and tracks are replicated in the simulator. Using our precisely recreated Ginetta Cars in an official Ginetta-sponsored championship opens an exciting new chapter of manufacturer-based motor racing for our racing drivers.
