RaceRoom – Swedish Mantorp Park Now Available

RaceRoom Mantorp Park ess overview

Swedish developer Sector3 Studios is keeping up with its announcements and has released another Swedish track for RaceRoom, namely Mantorp Park.

History

Fun fact, the track was financed by the Swedish division of English oil and gas giant BP in 1969. It is a permanent road course, which sets itself apart by including a drag strip.

In the past, Mantorp Park was host to Formula 2 races in 1971, 1972, 1973, 1981 and 1982. Today, its big visitors are the Swedish Formula 3 series and the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC).

The Layout

Mantorp Park features a total of four layouts, of which only two are still being used – the Long Circuit and the Short Circuit. Both of these layouts can be driven in RaceRoom.

The Long circuit features a total of 12 turns. It starts with a technical section, leading into a tight left-right combination, before heading onto the long back straight, which sometimes also functions as a drag strip. The circuit is then finished off, by a long left-hander leading into two tight right turns and concluding with a tight left turn, directing the driver on the main straight again.

The short circuit skips the last section: Here, a sharp right turn after the back straight leads right onto the main straight again.

Sector3 is building up a quite significant line-up of Swedish tracks, which is great to see, since these kinds of tracks are rather rare in sim racing. Reiza Studios are taking a similar approach with Automobilista and its Brazilian tracks.

Sector3 also promises that more tracks are on their way and will be unveiled in the “near future”.

Mantorp Park is available for purchase now in RaceRoom.
