Reiza Studios Create Crowd Funding Campaign

Reiza Studios has launched a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $78,000 for increased development on its current titles – Game Stock Car Extreme (GSCE) and Formula Truck 2013 – and a new title scheduled for Q4 2016.  And you thought Project CARS 2 was the only crowd funding title in town!

The launch of the crowd funding campaign comes on the heels of Reiza signing a new licensing deal for the ISIMotor source code.  This new deal allows for Reiza to really take advantage of the motor instead of doing a bunch of plugins, the current, troublesome, method.  While this deal is focused on the yet to be announced title, Reiza would like to take advantage of it with updates to their current titles.

And what would those updates hold?

  • Graphics & audio enhancements
  • Physics developments to include tire damage, realistic drivetrain modeling, enhanced FFB;
  • New hi-res UI design + HUD system customized for each car type;
  • Support for long distance races;
  • Automatic steering ratio adjustment + Support for more controller inputs & newer hardware;
  • Custom championship tool so users can build their own seasons for offline racing.

Reiza would also like ot create an official multiplayer structure, including:

  • 4 dedicated servers running 24/7 under a defined scheduled featuring all our series, aiming to provide a go-to place for public multiplayer racing;
  • A Hotlap ranking fed from the servers;
  • Seasonal prize-giving official competitions.

On the new content side of things, Reiza is looking at creating four new pieces of road content; the Super V8 (Holden Commodore V8 Supercar), officially licensed Mitsubishi Lancer Cup, Copa Montana (ute’s!!!) and Formula V10 (early 2000’s F1).  Of the four, the only one that appears to be in production at this time is the Super V8.

On the tracks front, Reiza is working on the modern Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and would like to recreate Velo Cittá, one of three FIA homologated tracks in Brazil.

Reiza is also looking to expand their horizons and offer dirt off-road racing such as the Mitsubishi Evo X Rallycross, Supertrucks (Stadium Super Trucks) and the Foz do Iguaçu track based off of the 2013 X-Games Rally Cross track.

Reiza also wants to update current content, adding the Renault Fluence and Honda Civic to the Copa Petrobras de Marcas series, updating the Formula 3 Brasil open-wheelers, updating Interlagos to its current spec and adding extra layouts to existing tracks (such as ramps for the SuperTruck).

Wow, that’s a lot.  But what about this new title?  Here’s what Reiza is willing to share.

  • PC Racing Simulator on Steam, to be developed, expanded & supported for years after initial release;
  • Integrates all our licenses & assets (present & future) into the same platform with free core updates  + paid DLC packages;
  • Release price estimated at US$ 39,99 (base package, not including DLCs);
  • Initial release planned for Q4 2016;
  • Includes majority of the content base in current sims + expands substantially on official licensed content & international tracks;
  • DX12 graphics engine;
  • Extensive audio & physics developments;
  • Dynamic weather & track conditions.

I like what I see with some of the rFactor 2 features being incorporated.

So what’s the motivator behind Reiza going the crowd funding route?  Essentially, Reiza can’t afford to keep updating GSCE for free anymore, which I can’t blame them.  GSCE is only $29.99 on Steam.  That one time – very reasonable – price gets you a whole lot of content.  And by content I mean constantly updated content.

Reiza would like to keep it that way but will need your help.  To some degree, instead of paying for a bunch of individual DLC’s, you’re paying for them up front in the form of a donation.  Why do this instead of just charging for DLC?  By having the money up front, Reiza can better plan for new content, placing resources were need be.  It also offers the studio more financial security.  Money now is worth more than money in the future.

Speaking of which, Reiza offers a bunch of donation levels, starting from $10 all the way to $2,000.  I think the sweet spot may be in the $50 – $75 range since both get you the new title (the $75 level gets you DLC for free).  I think that’s a reasonable amount to spend.

With that said, if you want to spend more, go for it, Reiza has been more than generous with their work.

I hope that Reiza Studios raises the $78,000.  On one hand, that sounds like a lot of money.  On the other hand, $78,000 is nothing when you’re running a business and have salaries and licenses to pay.  Hopefully the fans of the studio will understand the latter and help out.

  1. I am really torn on this one. I have GSCE and it is a real solid game, but it is a bit dated with its engine being several years old. $78,000 for a business is nothing. I do want to try the dirt and super trucks. I have spent a lot of time on Dirt Rally lately and am loving it. Games do have a real short lifespan lately, Project Cars has a year or two of planned updates. I know I am jumping around. I am going to put some thought into this and see if I can find a decent amount where I will get the game, but how many and what DLC’s are worth the $75? I hate investing in a game that I might not see for a couple of years. But it is worth consideration…

          I own all sims.
          iRacing doesn’t have as accurate physics, nor does it have the features I deem essential.

        2. IceVioletteDevil

          Not many sims “crushes” rF2, if any.
          Benchmark physics, force feedback, features, environment dynamics etc. etc.

          iRacing has great multiplayer functionality, obviously, but the physics still leave some to be desired.
          It is however very good.

      They licensed the isimotor source code so now they can advance with it (for next sim) and make it as advanced as rF2 if they are capable. It’s all on their hands.
      Their next tittle is set for Q4 2016 btw, not that far.

    2. rF2 is not a good example to use with me. I got a refund for a lifetime on that game. If that is the base for it, then I am out.

        Tim….SCE is at another level overall, very polished and good quality mp if you’re interested.
        If someone likes real sims, i find it almost impossible to believe they won’t like reizas work.
        Rf2 requires a powerful ffb wheel and is a bit rough though improved from earlier builds.

          How do you mean SCE at another level when it’s mostly rF1?

          rFactor 2 has many advantages over rFactor 1.

          -Realroad rubber being layed down dynamically where you and AI drive.
          -Dynamic weather with rain and dynamic drying line
          -Physically-based tire model, based on first principles, with flatspots, proper heat transfer and tire wear.
          -Chassis flex
          -More realistic force feedback
          -Automatic steering ratio adjustment
          -The best AI in simracing, which are more aware and aggressive, yet disciplined.
          -Auto-syncing of mods during multiplayer, which solves the mismatch problem and many more improvements for serious leagues.
          -Resume from replay savegame system
          -Improved wheel-to-wheel collisions
          -Better graphics, which will keep improving

          And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

          I own both SCE + FT and backed this for $100, but saying it’s at another level is disinformation.

            Lol, mod installs are a PITA on rf2, but i was referring to the state of the software and it’s g27 performance, anyway rf2 sux with my g27 but works like a champ with SCE.

          2. pcarsphyxexpert

            I have a g27 nutjob, and g27 performance no matter how much time I waste tweaking it isn’t fine….now it’s all well and dandy to promote sims, but don’t promote bullshit in my face.

          3. IceVioletteDevil

            Nope, not everyone is spreading mis- or disinformation.
            But those who do deserve to get called out, obviously.

          4. IceVioletteDevil

            Who’s promoting bullshit? Look at what was laid in front of you and do yourself a favor and follow some sound advice.

          5. IceVioletteDevil

            Well obviously you didn’t quite succeed in trying the tweaks, neither graphics or ffb.

          6. IceVioletteDevil

            A PITA? Jeez….

            1 – Download the package (car/track) you want to your rF2 package folder.
            2 – Open the Launcher.
            3 – Find the newly downloaded content and click install.

            Done.

          7. IceVioletteDevil

            Well then you’re opinion on the matter is pretty much useless. Sorry to say.
            Being contraire just for the hell of it isn’t all too charming.

        2. I have SCE. It is not that great. If you run triples you see it has single render limits. It is clear looking, but also not advanced graphics.

    1. ImageArtSigns .

      Yes, I had the same problem in rF2 with my old G27…but when I upgraded to the T300RS, rF2 is amazing now…I would rate it on par with R3E and iRacing.

      1. IceVioletteDevil

        No “we” don’t. I raced with a G27 for nearly two years and didn’t have any issues at all. Only rF2 can make a G27 feel like a million bucks.

    2. IceVioletteDevil

      You need to spend five minutes tweaking the ffb in rF2 and you’ll have the best, most accurate and most detailed forces you’ll ever get.

        1. IceVioletteDevil

          Yeah I lied. Perhaps you can make the tweaks in four minutes, not five, if you’re super duper fast.

          HAHAHA lol, awesome fun you are mate. No of course not “lies”.
          rF2’s ffb is widely regarded as the best on the market.

    I have just received an email from Indiegogo in regards to the Reiza funding with my Level 5 donation, and it states the following…

    Thanks to the 367 backers who together have funded 36% of the goal so far, we are very happy to confirm the following upcoming additions:

    SuperV8 (for GSCE);

    Mitsubishi Lancer Cup (for GSCE);

    Montreal modern (for GSCE & FTruck);

    Velo Cittá (for GSCE & FTruck).

    …all I would like to have now is ‘Bathurst’ to go with the SuperV8…if anyone knows where this track is for download to work with the latest version of GSCE, that would be fantastic
