As part of the push to upgrade Game Stock Car Extreme (GSCE) through their Reiza SimRacing Bonanza Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Reiza Studios have released a new video showing off tire pickup, flat spotting and one more new piece of content.

Lets first talk about the tire development. Here’s what Reiza Studios has to say about it.
A demonstration of some neat stuff we have been working on – tire dirt pick-up from running off track & flat spotting. Here you can see how these will cause visible damage to the tire and notice the actual physical effect of this damage, as the flat spot provokes some violent vibration down the straights.
The depth of the flat spot on the tire is a function of the tire softness, load as well as how long it dragged along the road during the wheel lock-up. The tire will then round up again and the ride smooth out, as the rubber around the flat spot gradually wears off.
These functionalities are currently implemented externally and only for the player´s car – one of our goals with the campaign is to fully integrate them into the codebase for AI & multiplayer to bring the dynamics of tire management & behavior to another, far more realistic level.
Speaking of dynamics, we´re also pushing to confirm another fundamental element of real racing into our list of coding goals within the campaign´s budget – watch this space!
Sounds pretty awesome to me. Guess all that tedious tire modeling and coding pays off. Hell, there’s plenty of titles out there that don’t even graphically show tire pickup and damage. Having that included is big. And about that new piece of content semi-casually previewed in the video.
Since there is no such thing as too much goodness, this video also gives a glimpse of our new modern Montreal track – already confirmed as future free additions for both Stock Car Extreme & Formula Truck thanks to all of those who already contributed with our crowdfunding campaign!
Yes, modern Montreal will be joining Classic Montreal in GSCE, pairing nicely with the modern Formula Extreme car. And as the statement says, the crowdfunding campaign is going pretty well. The campaign is currently about 50% funded at the halfway mark. When it comes to crowdfunding, most successful campaigns get the majority of their funding in the first 48 hours and the last 48 hours. This means its still feasible for Reiza to hit their goal of $78,000, but even if they don’t, the current money raised should allow the studio to release some cool new content like we see here.
If you haven’t yet contributed to Reiza Studio’s Indiegogo campaign, you can do so here.

I would like to see more realistic tire wear and pick up of debris. Seen a little lately. It is something we need in the games.
