RaceRoom continues to blaze it’s own course on the track side, with the announcement of Chang International Circuit coming to the title.
Never heard of the track in Buriram, Thailand? Me either, but that’s kind of the cool part.
To be fair – to all of us – the track only opened in 2014 but it has hosted some fairly significant series, including Japanese Super GT, Asian Le Mans Series and WTCC. With multiple WTCC packs, I’d guess that’s the big reason why Sector3 is keen to have it included in the RaceRoom catalogue.
The track is 4.5 km (2.8 mi) long and was designed by the notorious – I use that word for a reason – Tilke GmbH. While Tilke is known for some pretty questionable tracks – of course you can stuff 28 turns in 3 miles – Chang International Circuit actually looks to have a decent layout with a few very good overtaking opportunities.
Speaking of Tilke, that is the other reason why we are seeing Chang International in RaceRoom. Sector3 Studios has teamed up with the track building goliath to provide the Tilke team with playable builds during the design/construction of the track. And it appears on the flip side that Sector3 gets more tracks to release in RaceRoom. That’s called a win-win boys and girls. More tracks for Sector3 and hopefully less impossible overtaking corners for Tilke tracks.
Gotta love when the real-world and sim world collide.

Sector 3 Studios teaming up with Tilke…now that’s a good business strategy…awesome news
