A new company called CSIO Technologies are throwing their hats into the sim hardware ring with the SKRS shifter Knob for American Truck Simulator.
While a shifter knob usually isn’t the most critical tool at your fingertips, it is kind of important when you’re rowing an 18-speed transmission. When you don’t have one, you’re forced to play the “button mapping game” and that’s not the easiest.
Enter the SKRS, a real life Eaton Fuller Style 18 speed shift knob that’s been converted from utilizing pneumatic hoses to change gear-sets to an electronic USB interface that is compatible with Thrustmater TH8RS, TH8A and Logitech G25, G27 and G29 shifters.
But you may have noticed that it looks a bit unfinished… That’s because it is, but not for long.
Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, CSIO Technologies will develop their own USB interface and enclose it for a clean look, instead of the current Franken-rigged setup that stole the interface from a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick. Ingenuity!
While the goal has already been met by the enthusiastic American Truck Simulator community, there’s still some slots left to donate and reserve – essentially buy – the shifter knob for yourself if you’re a adamant fan.
