Kenworth W900 and Update Out for American Truck Simulator

A new update is out for American Truck Simulator, bringing the classic Kenworth W900 as free DLC, along with fixes to some of the more annoying features of the title.

These fixes include not only cheaper fines, but a new sliding scale that increases the fines as you progress in the sim.  This was done in part to not discourage new players of the title, which I think is a good move.

Speaking of fines, the speeding detection code has been tweaked to make the police a little more forgiving.  I could have used that during our First Look last week…

Another change – that also caught us out – was no ‘turn on red’.  With SCS Software being out of Europe, where there is no such thing as a right turn on red, the title would penalize you for doing so.  This has now been corrected, and as long as you use your turn signal, you won’t incur a penalty.

Another change that isn’t in this update, but will hopefully be in the next, are more speed limit signs.  Also, AI improvements are being worked on to reduce the likelihood of them running into you.

Looks like a solid first update to American Truck Simulator with more good updates to come.
