Kylotonn Games first stab at the official WRC title, WRC 5, is out now in France, Germany, Belgium and around the world on Steam (the reliable way to get games early if you live in a “have not” country). The rest of the world will have to wait until October 16th for the box copies on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

The title aims to faithfully recreate the 2015 WRC season, meaning all the cars – Volkswagen Polo R WRC, Hyundai i20 WRC, Citroën DS 3 WRC and Ford Fiesta RS WRC – and all the tracks – 13 Rally’s with 5 stages per, equaling 65 unique trails – are included. Additionally, the title sports features such as dynamic weather conditions, dynamic lighting, realistic damage, and vehicle preparation (setting your car up for the stage).
While that is all fine and dandy, there is one glaring issue with WRC 5 at this current time. Wheel support. Below is the official wheel list.
As you can see…it’s a bit lacking. Now, usually “supported wheel” means that the developer tried it and dialed it in, and if a wheel was “not supported”, it still works but just doesn’t feel great.
Well, this isn’t the case with WRC 5 at the moment. Darin fired it up on the Xbox One with the Thrustmaster TX and….nothing. Nothing worked.
So, it appears like you cannot race the game on the Xbox at this time with a wheel. And if you’re a PC or PS4 user, your options aren’t exactly great either.
This appears like a MAJOR oversight.
If you received your version of the game today, let us know what wheel you have, what platform you’re on and if it’s working. Curious to know if this is as big of an issue as it seems.

Oh dear going by the comments on steam its one to avoid 🙁
I’m amazed to confirm it really is 65 unique stages, no deja vu. That’s this games only redeeming quality. Thank goodness for Steam Refunds.
I think I had WRC 4 and it was ok…but might pass on 5 and wait for this mod to come out for Assetto Corsa after seeing this video

Looks and especially sounds amazing! But I’m not convinced. By looking at this, it feels like he’s driving on a track/circuit. The car looks like it belongs on a track/circuit. He said: “Try to drive the car like a racecar and you’ll be fine.” (3:39 min.) Rallycars and racecars are completely different when it comes to physics and handling and so on. Saying that you need to drive it like a racecar makes it a ‘bad’ rally mod. Italy has some great rallydrivers. If they can get one of them to test it out and give feedback on physics and handling that would help them a lot. However the modders responsible for the handling and physics probably don’t have the means and resources to pull this off. (no offense)
For now, the most interesting new rally game to check out and play is Dirt Rally. It’s early access but well worth it so far. Each handling/physics/FFB update brought something new to the table, an improvement in some way. Now they need to find the right balance and I’m sure they will with the feedback of actual rallydrivers and the community.
Thanks for taking the time to reply…yes you are correct ‘Dirt Rally’ is amazing and feels fantastic on my T300RS… WRC 5 would have to do a huge amount of work to bet it.
Well that is a bummer. I wanted to get it for my PS4, but not unless I see someone say it works great with a T500, Team VVV says he is going to be testing that combo.
Hold your money – it’s not worth a penny. Graphics are o.k. – but forget about the rest. It doesn’t even come close to DiRT Rally. Physics are awful. If you have more then two game controllers connected (I have 5 connected to my PC including a LED shift indicator) it does not even recognize the G27 wheel and pedals. Roads are much too wide. The car only rotates around a vertical axle that goes through the centre of the car. It feels synthetic. No feeling of weight and balance.
Not a chance of me buying this now… Coming to a bargain bucket near you very soon?
