Gran Turismo: This Week’s Past News

This past week, we have received a large influx of news related to the Gran Turismo series, including the unveiling of two new Vision GT cars! We also have an interesting announcement, that the 2015 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will be sponsored by Gran Turismo as well. For more info, read on!

First off, we have a mysterious photo, teasing the Chevrolet Corvette Vision Gran Turismo. This was revealed via Corvette’s Facebook page just a few hours ago, and it’s anyone’s guess as to which part of the car this screenshot is of. You have any guesses? Let us know in the comments below!

Subaru also unveiled their Vision GT project this week, with the VIZIV Vision Gran Turismo. If you look closely in the video, you will see an electricity plug, but it is unclear if it is an exclusively-electric car or if it could be paired with a traditional Subaru boxer engine. This car looks quite similar to the Volkswagen GTI Vistion GT in my opinion, so could that mean we may see competition among Vision GT cars?

Next up, we have two announcements from SEMA! First up, we have the BMW M4 Safety Car, which will be coming to Gran Turismo 6 later this month. Last year, the M4 was released to GT6, ahead of the real life counterpart’s debut. Now, the Safety Car, decked out with BMW M Performance parts, will be available for Gran Turismo 6 players to drive. I gotta say, the car looks pretty awesome, and hopefully will be fun to drive.

As always, with every year Polyphony Digital visits SEMA, we get another custom car coming to Gran Turismo, via the GT Awards. This year’s winner is the GoPro “Rampage” 1970 Chevrolet Camaro, a classic muscle car tuned to generate 750 horsepower! For more information about the winner of the 2014 GT Awards, check out this article our friends at GTPlanet wrote here.

Last, but definitely not least, we have an interesting announcement from Colorado. The 2015 Pikes Peak Hill Climb will feature Gran Turismo as a Platinum Sponsor. While it may be just be a sponsorship, Pikes Peak was in Gran Turismo 2. However, it has not made a reappearance in any future titles, much to the displeasure of fans. Could we see Pikes Peak in a future GT title? I’d really be excited to see it make a comeback.

What are you most looking forward to out of these different announcements? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. I don’t think that rack list is right, I am pretty sure I never had 2, but I did have Pikes Peak. Hey, I could be wrong, I looked at the wiki list of tracks, but it seems it was in 1 or 4. Oh I LOVED that track. A dirt and a paved version would be awesome… Yeah, I am back on GT6 some at least. SPATIALDRAGON.
