F1 2014 First Look on Playstation 3

Presenting our F1 2014 first look for the Playstation 3 with the new Thrustmaster T300 with the F1 rim attached and a modified T500 pedal set. This is the fifth year that Codemasters has had the license to create a Formula One title and here comes the fifth version. I was personally hoping that this version would be on the new gen systems but that version is supposed to be coming in early 2015. I’m honestly surprised they’ve waited this long to get on to the Playstation 4 and XBox One considering their PC version runs in a hi-res format.

First up, I run the setup lap to make some adjustments and then follow up with  a five lap Grand Prix race at Monza in the Ferrari.

F1 2014 First Look

The game is only running in 720P at what I assume is 30 FPS. It seems that the only racing title to run at 1080 P on the Playstation 3 was Gran Turismo 5 & 6.  From what I recall the XBox 360 runs at 1080P and of course the PC version can run at resolutions to accommodate triple monitors.

One of the problems in the earlier versions of the F1 franchise on the Playstation 3 was frame rate hiccups or slow downs. As you can see in my video above, they seemed to have got that ironed out but again at only 720p resolution.

Will you be picking up this title on October 20th ? If so which version are you getting? Also, would you like to see more gameplay of the PS3 demo version that I have and if so, what car and track combo ?

You can read more Codemasters F1 Series news here on our website: http://isrtv.com/category/codemasters-f1/

I hope you enjoyed this first look at f1 2014 for the Playstation 3.

  1. Thanks DG for doin’ the demo preview opening and short race. I would watch you do a race at the new Sochi track in the Williams [and I think you meant Massa, not Barrichello 😉 ] I think the game looks good, not great or even better than good, but does the job. The cars also have zero TC on them (where your wheels spin came from) and they are mandated to eight gear transmissions (well, 8 forward, 1 reverse). The biggest change for 2014, however, was the demise of the 2.4 liter NA V-8’s to the 1.6 liter turbo V-6. The new engines are ~600bhp whereas the V8’s, iirc, were around 750bhp.

I know what you’re saying about the PS3 graphics. . .CM should be embarrassed of the previous versions on the PS3. I always bought both the 360 and PS3 versions until F1 2013, I just didn’t play the ones on the PS3 even though I have a better wheel for it than the 360 (why I bought both, 360 for MP and PS3 for wheel). Anyway, thanks for the “tease” as I’m a bit of an F1 fan !!

And definitely praying for a recovery for Jules.

  2. The setup and those screens are much improved over the years of this game that I played. Being PS3 the video was what we knew it was. Might be better in triple screen with a PC. Actually interested in the game for PC. Hopefully it has voice chat and a way to setup a room that you can as a group go track to track.

  3. Would really like to see Sochi and Spa…

TBH i was laughing a little when you were going though Q1…pretty much where Kimi ends up anyway.
