Presenting our review of the Fanatec Clubsport Shifter SQ. In this review, Darin and Jason check out this new shifter and put it through it’s paces checking out the 7 Speed and Sequential functionality.
They tried it with iRacing, Project Cars and Assetto Corsa on the PC only.
This shifter retails for $199.95 US and 199.95 Euro and is available through Fanatecs web shop.

There are currently two 7speed manual cars in the world : the 2012 Posrche 911, and the 2014 Corvette Singray. There you go. 🙂
I haven’t driven a 7 speed manual but I can imagine 7th gear as an overdrive gear–only used in cruising on the highway or if you happen to be driving the old Mulsanne straight without chicanes 🙂 . So the caution getting it into 7th may well be appropriate for performance driving situations.
I bought the Clubsport Shifter SQ last year and had the problem with the short cable. The longer cable Fanatec supplied was shorted and made several gears at once. The cables are non-standard and difficult to get in the UK. It is an RG12 cable, similar to telephone RJ11 cable, but has 6 pins connected. I had to import from Germany in the end. (Fanatec customer service sent me another cable within a week but I didnt want to wait trying out the shifter)
The most likely use of a “seventh gear” with a detent is to
map it as the reverse gear. Many transmissions have reverse in this location.
It make it more real-world for driving those cars. Hope this helps.
