I bet you’re thinking.. that sounds odd. Wait till you see it in action !! Would you strap yourself in to something like that ?

I think I’d personally be too worried about neck damage.

  1. I see that actuator pulling back and shoving that piece of 80/20 through the base of my skull. 🙂 Not super comfortable with the idea of the seat moving in one direction while something is pushing my head in another.

  2. Eh. Looks kinda small and disorienting. Liked the moving and immersive cockpit thing from a video or two back, but this looks like an eyesore.

As a real racer I love the idea of that! It would be great for exercising the neck and shoulder muscles, which are some of the most important muscles when racing, and it’s very realistic. The only problem I can foresee with this is crashing. They would have to program something into that if a G-force in any direction is great than say 3G it wouldn’t simulate that, otherwise those crashes that were safe in sim racing wouldn’t be anymore.

  4. I like the idea of recreating G-Forces from real world racing, but I can also see whip lash occurring if you hit a wall. 🙂

  5. Thank you for this your article post Darin and hi Shaun,

(Average weight of Human head 5kg+Helmet 1.5kg)x4G=
26kg=57lb weight hardly pushing from backward when full braking.

It is seems the FREX HEAD MOTION system is safe when tested without fasten seatbelt because I am still alive.

This was developped by requests from a lot of real racers who tested with seat only motion.

They spend a lot of time to exercise neck muscle this can be to use for save their time by the simulator to learn track and neck muscle both at same time that might be a wining key for busy pro racer.

    Thank you.

  6. I’ve seen a video about something like this, from the guy who that version he said that it can not operate at over 1G for more than 1 second so that you won’t get neck damage
