Holden Commodore Shown in iRacing Trailer

iRacing has released the latest trailer for the upcoming update to their online service, showcasing the Holden VF Commodore V8 Supercar. To commemorate this weekend’s Bathurst 1000, we get to see the Holden tackling the famous Mount Panorama racing circuit.

The Holden will make a welcome addition to the iRacing V8 Supercars series, joining the Ford Falcon in the Aussie-based racing series. However, the Holden is based on the “Car of the Future”, a new direction the V8 Supercars took to make the series most cost effective and opening themselves up to more manufacturers, such as Nissan and Mercedes-Benz. The Ford will be updated the the COTF specifications in the future, to match the developments with the Holden. There is no mention on how the Ford will be in the series, if it will still be in it.

The Holden is looking to be released in the 2014 Season 4 build for iRacing, which will also include the long-awaited Driver Swap functionality. Set to come out at the latter half of this month, this looks to be a solid update. However, iRacing will be abbreviating their fourth season this year, to get their racing seasons more in line with a standard calendar year. We will see another update rollout in December, but there has not been any announcement as to what that will bring.

Are you looking forward to the Holden when it releases later this year? Do you prefer Holden or Ford? Let us know in the comments!

  1. I prefer Ford, but if they are going to quit using it like they did the Dallara Indy, then I guess Holden it is… At least until they add Mercedes and Nissan.
