We’ve seen it in clay. We’ve heard it (at the end of the video). Now we get to see iRacing’s latest road racer in final form. iRacing has released the final Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 render, and as we all knew, she’s a looker.
The DBR9 will join the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R in the new iRacing GT1 World Championship series that kicks off on June 16th at Watkins Glen. While the much loved iRacing GT3 Challenge will probably remain more popular, I think the GT1 series will convert a good number of them.
Besides the obvious appeal of V8 U.S. versus V12 U.K. power, the series will also be helped by a very generous schedule (shown below). Besides the absence of Circuit de la Sarthe – home of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – in the sim (c’mon iRacing!), the GT1 schedule has every major track that these two cars dueled on. Spa, Road Atlanta, Mosport, Silverstone, Sebring…all proper tracks for these cars. I think the schedule alone will bring people to the series.
Is the DBR9 (and schedule) enough to bring you to the GT1 series? Team Corvette or Aston?
