- Opel Manta 400
- Lancia 037 Evo 2
- Seat Ibiza Kitcar

- New calibration and options screens in “Advanced Wheel Settings” (added in v.0.4.5)
As you can see, Codemasters continues to put out healthy updates for DiRT Rally. Pushing 12 rally stages and five cars out the door a month after releasing Pikes Peak and three other cars is what I like to say, “doin’ work.”
Along with the updates, Tarmac Terrors brings a bunch of bug fixes to the title. My favorite has to be the support for Microsoft Sidewinder wheels. Guess people still use it…? See the complete list below:
- Error 41 – Fixed instances of the game not booting when there is less than 2GB of free space on C: drive. This was one of the causes of the dreaded error 41.
- Achievement – “Going up in the world” will now pop if you had previously purchased a Hillclimb car but not received the achievement.
- Stability – Driving the Peugeot 405 T16 would sometimes cause stability issues, we’ve fixed those now.
- Graphics – Quite a few changes for users running Nvidia SLI. That weird black and orange screen bug is fixed and we’ve solved the graphical corruption when using SLI and anti-aliasing on high/ultra graphical presets.
- Audio – The engine audio level in cockpit view can now be properly controlled by the slider.
- Gameplay – The reset button should appear sooner during those awkward moments when you beach your car at the side of the road. Though we advise not beaching your car.
- Gameplay – Sometimes you could rev the engine so hard on the Audi Sport Quattro the “Recover vehicle” prompt would pop up, it won’t do that anymore.
- Gameplay – We’ve planted some trees and shrubs in areas of Greece and Wales where we spotted that some of you were taking shortcuts. Taking some cuts in rally is cool but these cuts were definitely not cool.
- Gameplay – Fixed a loophole which would let you continually repair your car in Online Hillclimb events.
- Gameplay – Online Hillclimb events will now factor in slower times from Run 2 and they won’t overwrite faster times from Run 1.
- Message box – Stopped the Promotion message box from incorrectly displaying when you have completed the Masters Championship and finished in the top 3 positions.
- Save – Your advanced set ups should now save as expected
- Oculus – Sometimes the background on the main menu would vanish, we’ve fixed that now.
- Online Events – You’ll now be disqualified if you don’t start moving within a minute
- Leagues – Made the text on the league screens easier to read on lower resolutions.
- Audio – Pre-update your co-driver may have become a little disinterested if you left the centre of the track from time to time, we’ve spoken to him about his attitude.
- Audio – Ever had two sets of music play over a replay? That’s not a remix version and it should stop happening from now on.
- Controller Fix – Fixed an issue which meant players couldn’t change the stage conditions when using the Microsoft Sidewinder Wheel.
Another update that arrives with Tarmac Terrors is an updated price. Codemasters has stated that they will slowsly increase the price as the title moves closer to v1.0. This means that the Tarmac Terrors update will move the title from $34.99 (£24.99) at launch to £25.99 / 32,99€. No word yet on what that will be in US dollars but expect a $2-$5 increase. The price change does not effect current owners.
As of this writing the price hasn’t increased yet, so if you’re interested in purchasing DiRT: Rally on Steam Early Access, take advantage of it sooner than later.

Dude… This is epic… It really is getting funner by the day. I was gearing down for dirt and ice and then hit the new tracks… Had to stretch them back out. Love the cars so far, well except the mini. Sorry, but I can’t get it to drive the way I want… LOL
Yea this sim has huge upside. Unfortunately I suck at it. I just can’t get the feel/timing with the handbrake.
Yeah, I tried the handbrake using a button a few times and it worked once for me, but it is still a lot of fun.
The other times it caused me to wreck or head wrong way. LOL
I wish they’d use a proper FOV calculator like iRacing so you can compensate for bezels etc… And use 3 monitors properly.
Spend the $1,200+ to buy all the cars and tracks at iRacing if you want iRacing. For the price it is pretty good.
That’s a legit argument. Not enough of these current-gen sims are properly supporting triple screens. It’s a pet peeve of mine as well.
The problem with making it triple render is the framerate would drop and it is already 60- 70fps. Why it is so low on a PC is a different question when the older game engines allow the frame rate to be in the hundreds.
Optimization is one of the final steps.
Optimization is a nice word, but what does it really mean? How is it going to improve the frame rate w/o ruining other parts of the game?
I don’t know why you think optimization means some other part of the sim would be ruined.
I just noticed another change July 4th, on my Thrustmaster T500 and TH8A shifter in sequential mode, my buttons had been reset so the shifter was buttons 1 and 2 but the TH8A works also. That is really cool. I also had to reset a couple of the other buttons, but that was fine. I have no idea what happened but I like it.
I was playing yesterday, I have triple screens and a GTX 780 superclocked video card. I alt tabbed to see a message on Steam and ended up having to close the screen from outside the game. Bad idea. It took me several times of opening and adjusting the video settings until the picture even fit my screen and then re-adjusting all the finer details. It does make me wonder how many people that say the picture is flat and ugly have not properly set their video… It was a little frustrating, but it is well worth the time and effort.
