Reiza Studios recently released the 2013 version of Game Stockcar or GSC 2013. In this version it includes the updated version of what we have grown to love with the Brazilian Touring Cars and the formula Reiza. This latest version goes beyond that and also includes the Chevrolet Camaro, the Mini Cooper and some other old school cars.
In addition to all of that, is the new 125cc Kart you see me driving in the attached video and images below.
This is a single speed kart capable of blistering speeds. There is no suspension in a Kart except for the flex of the chassis and the amount the tires will compress. In addition to that there is no differential, but a solid axle with a single caliper operating only the rear end of the kart. To say the least, karting is a challenge and somewhat unique when compared to other motor-sports.
Reiza delivers a wonderful karting experience with a small selection of tracks to choose from. The modeling of the karts are pretty good with some generic looking bodywork. When out on the track and looking at other karts you can really start to see the detail , with many parts being modeled. You will see the axle spinning and even the brake caliper turning as the kart moves along. You can see the entire chassis of the kart underneath right down to the entire steering mechanism. The sound of the Kart mod are also very good. For anyone who has ever driven a kart or a high end motorcycle, there is nothing like the sounds of 11,000 rpms and you will not be let down by the sounds in this mod of the sim. Also delivered in this is some of the best real feel settings for an Rfactor based game ever. The one to one feeling from my wheel to in game was as good as it gets and every bump of the track is transmitted through the wheel. I cranked up the force feedback to mimic the feeling from back when I used to kart, and let me tell you after only a handful of laps I was exhausted and my arms were pumped.
My favorite aspect of this mod is the way it gives you the reel feel of karting. Granted a kart might only achieve speeds of 70 mph, but when you scale that down to a track only a 3rd of a mile long, it is very quick. Karting is intense, fast, and sometimes scary and the GSC 2013 kart mod does all of that well.
This is my first look at GSC 2013. Expect more from both myself and Darin in the weeks to come.
