Since we are having an extended period between Assetto Corsa updates, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at what is going on in the modding front.
First off, we’ll be taking a look at some good ol’ American muscle, namely the Shelby Cobra 427. the_meco first announced this project back in March, and it has really come along nicely. A few days ago, he released some in-game previews of the classic car. Physics are about 80% complete, and it will be authentic, so this car WILL want to kill you. Sounds have not been implemented yet, with the first build likely having placeholder audio.
If race cars are more your style, alless and SandroX have been working to port the 2013 Chevrolet C6.R GTE from rFactor 2. This car is part of rFactor 2’s EnduranceRacingX EGT5 Mod, which is planned to be converted in its entirety. The C6.R will be free, while the rest of the content will be payware. It is said that the GTE performance is on a similar scale to GT2, so you may see this car competing with the BMW M3 GT2 and the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 once it’s released.
A few cars with a legendary rally pedigree are also in development. The Lancia Delta Evo II and Audi Sport Quattro are being brought to Kunos’ title by Nico01 (Delta) and pankykapus (Quattro). The Quattro is currently in progress of being implemented ingame, while the Delta is approaching its first release. A Lancia 037 Rally Evo II is also being developed by nikkk78. Note that Assetto Corsa currently does not support 4WD, but it is planned. If these mods are released before 4WD is implemented, they will likely contain FWD placeholder physics.
If you’re wanting a little more “bull” in Assetto Corsa, you’re in luck! Two Lamborghinis are currently in development. Radiator Springs Racing is bringing the Gallardo Valentino Balboni from NetKar Pro, but giving it a full overhaul. Matteo Stirati has been hired to design an all new model for AC, as well as designin new sounds. If you fancy something a little more expensive, the Lamborghini Veneno is also being worked on, with Nunca15 at the helm. The $4.1 million dollar car is still in early development, with a first export being put into the game. This car also is faced with the AWD dilemma, with proper physics likely not available until Kunos releases the Nissan GT-R this September.
Now, we’ll take a look at a couple things you CAN drive. bobskype has released the 1995 SEAT Ibiza, currently at version 0.5. This car was converted with permission from Rigs of Rods, and features two different engines. The stock motor features a 55 horsepower 1.4L 4 banger, or you can swap that out for a VR6 from a Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The IER Modding Group’s Corvette Daytona prototype has the distinction of being the first third party car to be publicly released. They have now released an update to the car, with new physics, as well as a left hand drive version of the car. You can download version 0.2 of the mod here.
NOTE: Uninstall the previous version of the mod you have, to avoid mismatches.

I tried to download the Porsche GT3 car they have on the site and had no luck. I figured out how to do the tracks, but the cars I have not yet figured out how to do those. A quick How To video would be way cool.
What Porsche and where are you downloading from? There is no LEGAL Porsche released for AC. As for where to put the car file, go to your drive w Steam installed-Steam/steam apps/common/assettocorsa/

I didn’t list the Porsche GT3 car due to the fact it was an illegal rip from Forza.
Good. I dont understand why people are doing this. So much good legal content already with tons more to come.
That is where I tried to put the Porsche file, but it did not work. I ended up deleting it. Far as I can tell most of their tracks are simply hacked versions of other games.
Yeah, I’m with Tim Chitwood on this car also. I’ve download a few car’s but the Porsche GT3 is not working for me. Any idea’s? Or, any help would be Appreciated A Lot.
AC was never the most pretty game but these mods are making it look terrible like going back 10 years. Surly modders should be putting a bit more effort in to stop making it look like a game from 2004
AC is truly a game of great tracks and junk tracks, I have driven into chasms where you tumble into nothingness and others are great tracks with decent feedback and solid surfaces everywhere. I just hate having to load a track, or car and not knowing if you will get an illegal hack job or not.
I tried the car links that are supposed to be legal and all I am getting is chasing around in circles. Either they were yanked or I can figure out tracks but not cars. 🙁
What are you on about. It works flawlessly. Downloads, as well as mods.
