Well, this is exciting. I would like to present our first look at the new FIA World Rallycross Championship update to DiRT Rally, featuring yours truly behind the wheel. Man, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry…
Codemasters released the “World RX Update” yesterday bringing three cars, the Ford Fiesta WRX, Volkswagen (not a Golf) Polo Rallycross and Peugeot 208 WRX, and two tracks, Lydden Hill, UK and Höljes, Sweden, to the title.
We took a test drive of the update and ran the VW (not a Golf) Polo Rallycross at Lydden Hill for an abbreviated weekend (semi-finals and finals races) because four qualifying races are a bit much. I ran the race in the Pagnian Next Level Motion Simulator with a Thrustmaster T300 RS wheel, VG TM 28 Leather GT rim, T3PA pedal set and two TH8A shifters, one in sequential mode and another in analog for hand braking. In case you can’t tell, I thoroughly enjoyed running this setup.
The races were run with the AI difficulty set to very hard. While they weren’t necessarily difficult – Codemasters have recognize this and will be turning the difficulty up in the next update – they do race pretty well for AI. The Focus I’m racing in the finals does a really nice job holding me off for a couple of corners. I’m looking forward to what they’ll be like after the next update.
I really enjoyed the World RX Update for DiRT Rally and I hope you enjoy the test drive. I’ll be seeing you in more videos soon.
P.S.: Pro tip, don’t cut corners.

I bet once the pvp gets going some leagues will jump all over this. Fun stuff !
Yea this is easily my favorite part of this title. Flying solo in rally or hill climb can get old after awhile. But trading paint on a short, fast circuit is quite a bit of fun.
I have not really put much time into the rallycross part of the game. But Steam did finally get back to me unlock my account, they took about a month but it is fixed. I have been just doing the leagues with the daily, weekly and monthly plus the Precision Racing League. It is timed events, but keeps you busy. To me the Pikes Peak is boring until you get back to the dirt and mixed stages, but that is fun. Just wish you could use other cars. Anyways, I am planning on getting into the rally cross.
