Sector3 Studios have released in-game images of the first open wheel car to hit RaceRoom, the Formula RaceRoom 2 (FR 2). As the name and images suggest, this is not a real life car, although it does have some strong resemblance (and nomenclature) to modern GP2 cars.
The FR 2 marks a new direction for Sector3. The car was first previewed in May’s Dev Stream and the Sector3 staff made a point that they not only want one open wheel car in RaceRoom but multiple. Up until this point in time, RaceRoom has only comprised of sports cars and prototypes, with the majority of them being of the gran touring (GT) flavor.
Also previewed in the images is Sector3’s version of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. This is also the first time we’ve seen Spa since the Dev Stream where it already looked pretty far along in development.
Knowing Sector3’s PR tactics, I would say these previews indicate a release within the next month. GP2 does race at Spa in a couple of weeks…
