Via a new trailer, DRIVECLUB will be released on the PlayStation 4 on October 7th in North America, October 8th in Europe and October 10th in the UK after nearly a yearlong delay. DRIVECLUB was originally intended to be a launch title for the new console but developer Evolution Studios and publisher Sony Europe pulled the plug to continue development. The original delay had an “early 2014” release date but in March the title was pushed back to a Fall release.
Even though delays are never fun, it is good to see a release date for the title. Unlike the Xbox One, which has had Forza 5, the PlayStation 4 has been – somewhat strangely – absent of any racing titles. While DRIVECLUB certainly looks more arcade than sim, hopefully it’ll provide a fun experience for PS4 owners who have had their wheels collecting dust.
