F1 2014: Singapore Hot Lap Video

Singapore Hot Lap

Codemasters have released a new Hot Lap video for F1 2014, this time taking a look at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, home of the Singapore Grand Prix.

The Singapore Grand Prix’s inaugural race was in 1966 (prior to that, it was the Orient Year Grand Prix in 1961 and the Malaysian Grand Prix from ’62-’65). After a thirty-three year hiatus between 1974 and 2007, the Singapore Grand Prix made its return, running at Marina Bay. This race is one of the more popular stops on the Formula One calendar, making for some very exciting racing. This course is also bound to be a fan favorite for a while, since in 2012, a contract extension secured the venue’s spot through 2017.

Codies looks to have done an excellent job recreating the circuit in the game. The cityscape in the background looks gorgeous and very dynamic. When you enter the city, it’s even more spectacular, but you’ll have to keep from getting distracted by the buildings, or you’ll end up in the unforgiving walls! F1 2014 also looks to have incorporated the new color scheme for the circuit, representing Singapore Airlines’ new sponsorship of the event.

Romain Grosjean’s Lotus also looks meticulously recreated, down to the asymmetrical “tusks” on the nose. I really liked the subtle touches in the video as well, for example, the subtle backfire. I don’t know this for a fact, but I’d assume that since these cars prioritize energy conservation, there wouldn’t be as much wasted fuel for a significant backfire.

F1 2014 will be out next month for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The title touts a more accessible gameplay style, that can be adapted to all forms of gamer, from beginners to the hardcore. All cars and tracks from the 2014 F1 season will be included, adding new circuits such as the Red Bull Ring and Sochi.

For those of you looking for your next gen F1 fix, you won’t have long to wait! Codemasters is hard at work for the next generation racing title, and is anticipating a release early in the 2015 Formula One season. Downloadable updates will update the cars as the season progresses, so you’ll be on the cutting edge of realism.
