iRacing NASCAR Series Champion Alfalla Dethroned!

During our interview with iRacing president Tony Gardner, we alluded to Ray Alfalla winning his third iRacing NASCAR World Championship title in a row. Tony mentioned Tyler Hudson having a shot, but most likely Ray would win his third in a row.  After missing a race in August, a shot at a title seemed to be out of reach for Hudson who is a veteran sim racer dating back  to before NASCAR 2003 by Papyrus days. But with one race to go, he was only two points back of Alfalla and it came down to who finished better at Homestead in the finale on October 15th of this year.

Hudson had an uphill battle starting the night in 9th place behind series two time champ Alfalla who had never finished lower than 5th place at Homestead in prior NiSWC competition.

During the first round of pit stops, Alfalla chose to take on right side tires only while the rest of the field took 4. It worked for a while and may have been a great strategy on a short run, but there was some long green flag runs that made Alfalla a sitting duck as the guys with four roared by. Hudson was one of them and ended up battling his way to a 3rd place finish and his first NASCAR iRacing Series World Chamipnship which entitles him to $10,000, a NASCAR championship ring and a year end celebration at the NASCAR series finale in Homestead. Alfalla could only manage a fourteenth place finish and ended up just nine points back of Hudson.

Congratulations Tyler from all of us here at Inside Sim Racing ! Also congratulations to Peter Bennett on winning his first NiSWC race.
